Our Work

Working with funding from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private funders, the PAN Branch helps communities build and sustain partnerships and identify and implement policies and practices that make the healthy choice the easy choice.

PAN also educates decision makers about state-level policies that are proven to work for combating obesity.

The Branch has three main areas of focus, based on Recommended Community Strategies and Measurements to Prevent Obesity in the United States. The three are:

  1. Help more North Carolinians achieve the recommended levels of daily physical activity through:

  2. Help North Carolinians enjoy more fruits and vegetables and eat fewer sweet and fatty foods and drinks by making healthy foods available and more attractive in underserved communities through:

  3. Help North Carolina worksites improve access to healthy eating and physical activity for their employees.
