Move More Scholars Institute
The Move More Scholars Institute (MMSI) is an intensive, four-day training course for community-based physical activity professionals in North Carolina, patterned after the national Physical Activity in Public Health Course. Participants learn how to promote and support physical activity in their communities by using evidence-based strategies to create polices and practices, and to effect environmental changes. Nationally-recognized faculty lead the educational sessions, with an emphasis on interaction and small group projects. Nearly 90% of all previous participants reported that they apply what they learned to their work in physical activity promotion regularly. Here are a few quotes from 2008 graduates: I'm a landscape architect & professor… I look forward to applying new knowledge to my daily work. Retreat locations are great, continue to have a variety of speakers & subject areas, I liked the national & state local concept, speaker from CDC was great. I enjoyed being able to talk with the faculty outside of the sessions. I made some great connections that will be useful and made some good friends as well. Great, I was able to share ideas & learn ideas, great to see people in a relaxed stress free atmosphere. The MMSI is will be offered again in Spring 2012.
