Elizabeth Zimmerman serves as a Worksite Wellness Specialist for the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Branch, NC Division of Public Health. In this role she primarily coordinates the NC HealthSmart Worksite Wellness Toolkit trainings. She is responsible for developing the training curriculum and materials, conducting statewide trainings for all state agencies, public colleges, universities and public schools.
Elizabeth came to the PAN Branch from North Carolina Prevention Partners where she managed the National Winner's Circle Program, developed and coordinated childhood obesity prevention initiatives and supervised the nutrition staff and interns. She also managed their financial system, developed financial policies and served as the Financial Director. Elizabeth has also served on the Peace Corps where she was involved in community assessment and development in tribal rainforest villages. Most of her work involved helping women's groups develop small business initiatives, and to improve community access to clean water and adequate health care.
Elizabeth completed her Masters in Public Health degree with a focus on Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
