Greg Moore

ESMM Weigh Less Lead Instructor
Physical Activity and Nutrition Branch
N.C. Division of Public Health

Greg MooreGreg serves as the Lead Instructor for Eat Smart Move More, Weigh Less (ESMMWL), a collaborative effort of the NC Cooperative Extension Service, the NC State Health Plan and the NC Division of Public Health. In his role he teaches ESMMWL classes for state agencies and school faculties throughout Wake County. Moreover, Greg observes, assists and evaluates other instructors delivering ESMMWL classes for state employees in various worksites.

Eleven years of middle school teaching (mathematics/science) led Greg into further work with parent education for Wake County Human Services (Working for Kids-WfK). Following his years with WfK, Greg entered the non-profit sector with the NC Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NCAAHPERD) where he served as Assistant Director for Membership Services and Operations. Professional endeavors with NCAAHPERD drew him into the field of wellness and fitness. Greg was inspired and motivated by various allied professionals (many in the PAN Branch) to become a healthier individual with significant weight loss using ESMMWL strategies, all while becoming a group fitness instructor during this transitional time of his life.

While remaining a certified teacher for NC and certified fitness trainer for the Alexander YMCA, Greg combines his talents for teaching with a solid passion to offer ESMMWL participants research-based tools for living their healthiest life.

Greg graduated from Campbell University with a concentration in mathematics/science curriculum, certified to teach grades six through nine. He holds current group fitness credentials from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and teaches indoor cycling classes weekly. While worksite wellness may be his vocation, his avocation is most definitely singing. He may be found regularly performing cabaret or other theatrical works in the downtown Raleigh area when not spending time with his partner, dog, and cat.
