Leigh Haugseth serves as a Project Specialist for the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Branch, N.C. Division of Public Health. In this role she works on a variety of programs including managing grants for local communities working to increase physical activity within their community settings as well as developing and promoting the NC HealthSmart Worksite Wellness Toolkit. She also serves on the Healthy Environments Collaborative which works to integrate public health and physical activity into city and community planning in North Carolina.
Before joining the PAN Branch, Leigh worked for two years as a Public Health Educator with the Oral Health Section in the Division of Public Health. She also worked for Health Fitness Corporation as a screener and health counselor. After completing graduate school, Leigh studied Spanish in Spain for three months before returning home to complete an internship at Duke Hospital in worksite wellness. There, she worked on nutrition, exercise, and stress management programs for Duke University employees.
Leigh received her BS in Engineering from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama and her Masters of Science in Environmental Policy and Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is also a Certified Nutrition Specialist and a member of the American College of Nutrition.
In her free time, Leigh loves to travel, cook simple healthy meals, be outside, and dance, particularly the tango. She resides in downtown Raleigh.
