Lexie WolfLexie serves as policy specialist for the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Branch, NC Division of Public Health. She works to increase physical activity and healthy eating among North Carolinians through state, local, and organizational policy interventions. In this role she performs policy research, analysis and advocacy activities to support implementation of two American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funded projects, one focused on worksite wellness and the other focused on built environments.

Prior to assuming her current role Lexie served as a project specialist for the PAN Branch where she led development of the Eat Smart, Move More Policy Strategy platform. In this role she collaborated with members of the Eat Smart, Move More advocacy committee to create a policy strategy platform that outlines the current policy issues most crucial to the movement’s mission. She also researched and compiled supporting information including a bibliography of evidence-based research to support each strategy.

Prior to joining the Division of Public Health Lexie worked in communications and media relations for approximately ten years, both for public relations agencies and in-house marketing and public relations departments. She holds a BA in English and Cultural Studies from Hampshire College and is working towards an MA in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Health Policy from Duke University in 2010. She is currently finishing her master’s thesis, Policy prescriptions to prevent childhood obesity: North Carolina lawmakers’ perspectives. This research is being conducted in collaboration with the UNC Asheville Center for Health and Wellness’ Childhood Obesity Prevention Legislator Information Gathering Project.

In her free time, Lexie enjoys tennis, yoga, and spending time with her two children.
