Lori Schneider serves as the Physical Activity Specialist for the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Branch, N.C. Division of Public Health. In this role she develops statewide partnerships and initiatives to increase physical activity through comprehensive, community-based approaches with emphasis on policy and environmental strategies. Her efforts focus on physical activity opportunities for school and community environments, while also addressing faith communities, health care setting, and worksites.
Before joining the PAN Branch, Lori spent several years working in public health at the community level, serving as the Physical Activity and Nutrition Health Education Coordinator at the Gaston County Health Department in Gastonia, North Carolina and as the Physical Activity and Nutrition Health Educator at the Delaware General Health District in Delaware, Ohio. She spent two years as an Exercise Specialist working in for the YMCA of Central Ohio Corporate Wellness Division serving American Electric Power and State Auto Insurance in Columbus, Ohio and at the Key Bank Corporate Fitness Center in Cleveland, Ohio as the Group Exercise Coordinator.
She earned her Bachelors in Health Promotion from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio and her Masters in Sport and Exercise Science from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
After work Lori can usually be found leading a group exercise class, riding her mountain bike or out for a run.
