Rocky Payne serves in two capacities at the NC Division of Public Health—the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Branch and the Chronic Disease and Injury Section Office. With PAN, he supports the branch’s new built environment initiative as Data Manger and also provides evaluation support to the Evaluation and Surveillance Unit. With the CDI Section Office, he works as a Social Research Analyst, evaluating current efforts to integrate the work of multiple chronic disease programs.

Rocky has a Masters degree from North Carolina State University in International Studies with a focus on global health. Prior to graduate school, he worked as an editor for various trade publications in North Carolina and New Jersey. He received a B.A. from Hamilton College in Comparative Literature with a minor in French.

Outside of the office, Rocky plays Ultimate Frisbee and little else. He takes occasional breaks to watch nature shows or to listen to This American Life. He loves living in the Triangle.
